Johnson, promised during his re-election in the electoral campaign, after driving without insurance, introduced a package of reforms of the state legislature in the coming 60 day session, to convene Tuesday.
But some Democrats, including Senate President Pro Tem Manny Aragon, said Johnson’s plan is flawed because it is not assured on the driver rather than high costs for insurance.
“We try to find something (a solution), which is affordable, not punitive,” Aragon said in a recent interview.
Aragon said the reduction of minimum liability tarpaulins New Mexico drivers are under the law would be required to contribute to auto insurance base conducive for lower income drivers.
