Making good rewards for SRA’s John Wood
Specialty Risk Associates, a general management of the Agency, which is based in Shreveport, La, was moving in the past several years - the development of LA beyond its base in neighbouring countries - and regional plans to increase its visibility even further in the years to come.
Insurance Journal recently caught up with business president, John Wood, SRA, discusses the origins, their priorities and plans for the future. Stated that the maxim, “always make the right”, runs its business philosophy, wood, he said, the satisfaction of providing great customer service and the successful development of relations with the two officers of Commerce retail and insurance.
Insurance Journal: conversation on the origins of your company and how the project began in the insurance business.
John Wood: Our company Specialty Risk Associates, was founded in 1985 by Dale and Slack me.
I am a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in 1973 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Degree with a put option. Close to the end, there was a day, trade was encouraged by the college and the loudspeaker was a regional director of a facility in Union Commercial Ruston, Louisiana. His presentation fascinated me.
Thus, after the presentation, I spokesperson said that I would be really curious to know more about insurance and asked how I could in the industry. He said, it starts with an interview process and sent me on the human resource director. Upon completion of the necessary checks I was raised in a subscription program. I was with the Union of commercial insurance in different positions for four years.
During 1977, I received and accepted an offer from a retail agent in Shreveport, Louisiana, my home town and had a wonderful experience working eight years. Dale’s career has been similar.
I believe that our solid foundation has given us an advantage, because we have experienced both the company and the retail Agency pages of the company. We understand the point of view of businesses, and we understand the perspective of retail trade, the agent is to provide our customers. Thus, we have empathy for them and they serve their customers. With our previous experience, we are able to relate to their problems and opportunities.
TS: Is there in your company, a specialization or expertise in certain sectors of the insurance?
JW: Because we try to do our best to meet the needs of our customers, and since we have a broad product mix and appetite, we are generalists.
But we have a specialty niche as home owners of empty buildings, construction workers risk oil and gas, where my partner, Dale Slack is one of the most experts in the sector.
We also have a programme to fight against the fire partners, personal and sun screens in transportation, and because our region is abundant in natural resources, we see a lot of lumbering and wood and sand and gravel. Besides, we write non-emergency and medical devices and exhibits stable.
