Jindal opens 2008 legislative session; read text of his speech

Mr. Speaker, Mr. President, my colleagues and elected officials, members of the legislature, my wife Barbara, distinguished guests, my colleagues and Louisianians…

Three short months, we have all learned outside of this building with a lot of joy.

We all arrived with hope and the need for change. We must, at the beginning of a new administration and a new legislature in the belief that we can do better.

In just a matter of weeks, have you in the fulfilment of that hope…. They hope… in history.

We rely on our dramatic.

And we have begun to do that.

In two special sessions that have been made, much progress as legislators in many countries as a whole.

But instead of resting on this success, we are going to press.

Indeed, there are many things to do and no time to lose.

We come from many backgrounds, different communities and different political parties.

But we all agree on one central point: Louisiana is the best place in the world to start a family.

Today, the quality of life is threatened by the economic challenges… few products of neglect, some put in that separates us from global forces, we can not control.

Our governments respond to these challenges will determine the fate of Louisiana in the years ahead.

We have a good start.

We changed the image of our country, some of the most ethical reforms in the country. We vis-à-vis the Gold Standard, and indeed, our reforms we now rank on all other States of disclosure, and is among the best in almost any other category.

We sent a clear signal to the nation, Louisiana does not open only for business travellers, but we are seriously long, the reform of large… so that our youth do not leave duty and at home their dreams.

But, we did not stop more changes to the way our government.

We are again in another special session, and a tax system which weighed on the structure, had left alone too long.

We rid of taxes, investment in our country and the development of our existing businesses in Louisiana.

We have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in economic development… on priorities such as roads, bridges, ports, coasts and restoration work.

And we comprehensive, common sense reforms to spend our transportation costs for transportation needs.

We have also acted as managers of the taxpayers’ money, and with the support of future generations Louisianians using some of our debts for teachers and state employees, and investments in the maintenance and maintenance of our educational institutions.

We have every reason to be proud of what we have done.

But there is so much more to do.

We can not rest until we have another Louisiana, where every young person has the opportunity to enroll in a bid to pay up a great career start, and then you get the quality of education, access to better health care, and a family in a safe.

From day one, I promised that we work together… Republican, Democrat, North and South - because Louisianians were ambitious, we speak with one voice and state forward.

We said that we would work together… and we had.

It accused the former, fission mushrooms, politics of the past - and the people of Louisiana won.

The Monroe News said citing our work was “a success”.

And we have succeeded, despite the work of our opponents and the Pfeifkonzert the cynics.

Sceptics said that we could not the gold standard of ethics in the reform of Louisiana, but we did.

She doubted that we invest in our country, the priorities and control over expenditure, but we did.

Some have said that Louisiana has not lane change and make a new start… but we did.

And now… our recent successes in the reform of ethics and tax reform… we must move to the next stage of the preliminary… a review of our system of development of the workforce.
