Governor of New Jersey proposes to seize vehicles of uninsured drivers
Governor McGreevey announced Monday the first details of a plan to reform auto insurance is it revealed in the fall: the recruitment of vehicles of uninsured drivers.
“In other words, a driver who drives uninsured and can not provide proof of insurance within 24 hours withdrew their car,” said McGreevey.
Once a vehicle withdrawn, a motorist would have 30 days to get insurance or if the vehicle would otherwise auction. The owner must also pay would Abschlepp and storage fees.
McGreevey plan, needs the approval of legislative power, would be one of the harshest penalties the nation had no insurance.
